Reflections “Women’s Voices in Art”

A Juried Exhibition Celebrating the Vision and Vitality of Women Artists in Georgia

“Women’s Voices in Art” celebrates the creative power, resilience, and imagination of women artists. This juried exhibition welcomes submissions in all media that reflect the breadth and depth of women’s artistic expression — from traditional fine art to innovative new media. Whether exploring identity, nature, community, or transformation, this show honors how art connects us, heals us, and empowers us to see the world anew.

Location: Chastain Art Gallery, 135 Chastain Park Avenue NW, Atlanta, GA 30342 USA

Eligibility

Open to all women artists currently residing in Georgia, age 18 and over.

• Original works and personal execution only; reproductions or AI generated are not accepted.

• Works must have been completed within the last three years and have never been submitted to a previous Atlanta PenWomen's Reflections show (last biennial Reflections exhibition in 2024).

Accepted Media and Entry Specifications

All visual art forms are welcome, including:
• Painting – oil, acrylic, watercolor, encaustic
• Drawing & Printmaking – graphite, ink, pastel, charcoal, etching, monotype
• Photography & Digital Imaging – traditional or digitally manipulated
• Sculpture & 3D Design – stone, clay, wood, metal, resin, 3D printed
• Jewelry & Metalwork – fine art jewelry, adornment, or conceptual pieces
• Mixed Media – Collage, textiles, assemblage

All Artwork must have a label affixed to the back

2-D Media: (items that hang flat against the wall)
Work must be appropriately framed,  able to be hung such as wiring or sawtooth hangers, and can be glass or plexiglass.
Unframed stretched canvas must be finished in gallery wrap, which means the edges must be painted with 1.25” minimum thickness.

3-D Media
Sculptures: maximum weight 100 pounds, maximum height 60”, footprint maximum 30”X30”
Wall mounted sculptures: maximum weight 35 pounds, maximum size 48”X48”
All sculptures must be hand delivered

Artists may take their inspiration from the themes of:
• Identity & Transformation
• Nature & the Sacred Feminine
• Resilience & Renewal
• Innovation & Vision

These themes are suggestive, not restrictive — all interpretations are welcome.

Awards

  • Best in Show – $1,000.00
  • First in Category - $700.00
  • Second in Category – $500.00
  • Third in Category – $300.00
  • People’s Choice Award – $200.00

Submission Guidelines

• Up to 3 works may be submitted per artist.
• Each entry must include:
  - Artist’s name and contact information
  - Title, medium, dimensions, price, and year of completion
      - High-quality images (300 dpi, JPG or PNG format)
• Entry fee: $45.00 per artist
• All works must be for sale
• Artists are encouraged to and responsible for insuring their work.

**For Shipped Artwork - the return shipping label must  be included, paid for in advance and shipping material included to send back.

Juror: Madeleine Kellam

Madeleine Kellam’s artistic journey is a testament to the harmony of science and creativity. With an academic background in anthropology and geology, she chose a career in environmental protection while also becoming an accomplished painter, potter, sculptor, metalsmith, and fiber artist. Madeleine has produced award-winning pieces in ceramics and metal. Her work is a blend of precision and imagination firmly rooted in the beauty of the natural world. Madeleine is also an avid collector of world textiles and tribal jewelry - underappreciated artworks created primarily by and for women.

Judging Criteria

Entries will be juried based on:
• Artistic excellence and originality
• Technical skill and craftsmanship
• Concept and emotional impact

Sales and Commission

Artwork must be for sale. The gallery retains a 30% commission on sales during the exhibition.

About the Exhibition

This exhibition is organized by The Atlanta branch of the NLAPW, a community of women artists — visual, musical, and literary — who come together to inspire, uplift, and support one another. We believe that art heals, connects, and strengthens both individuals and communities.
